The conviction that information is at the centre of human interaction provided the decisive impetus for the founding of Humantechnik GmbH in 1985. In the 1980s, the idea of inclusion had not yet permeated all areas of life as much as it has today. In this respect, Humantechnik was certainly a pioneer when it launched the »textel compact« writing telephone shortly after its foundation - a »milestone« for the social participation of deaf people.

Today, Humantechnik is Germany's leading provider of home signalling systems and personal audiological assistance systems. The company headquarters in Weil am combines administration, development, production, logistics and sales. As the headquarters of the Humantechnik Group, the ‘threads’ of the seven European subsidiaries and a Canadian company also come together here. With an export share of well over 60 per cent, Humantechnik systems are present in markets around the globe.

In 2006, Humantechnik expanded its portfolio with transmission systems such as inductive hearing systems, radio and infrared transmission systems for public spaces. Since 2012, the company has been developing, producing and selling its own products under the AUDIOropa brand.

Two further technologies were added in June 2024: Wi-Fi audio streaming and Auracast©. The AUDIOropa portfolio therefore includes almost all technologies for hearing assistance and a wide range of other applications.
